Laurel and Hardy pack them
in at the Panopticon

It was a full house at the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall on 7th June. The Call of the Cuckoos Tent held its first meeting of its twelfth season at the Glasgow venue where Stan Laurel made his stage debut.

The full house meant that a lot of folk unfortunately had to be turned away. So it was resolved that the next Laurel and Hardy presentation will be a double showing!

Make a note of the date of Sunday 16th July. The programme will be screened at 2.00pm and 6.00pm. The main feature will be Our Relations.

Admission will be free and all are welcome.

2018 UK Convention

You can catch elsewhere on this site the first of regular updates on plans for the 2018 UK Convention in Norwich.

Room-mate quest

Sharon Stocks of the Blockheads Tent in Scotland has booked for the Norwich Convention but is looking to share with another lady in a twin room. If you know of anyone who may be suitable please let me know and possibly we can suitable arrangements.

The next meeting of the Men o' War Tent meeting is set for 24th June.

Peter Brodie on the run

As reported elsewhere on this site, Grand Sheik Peter Brodie completed the Manchester10k Run with his son Alex during the holiday weekend at the end of May.

Peter tells us, "This was my 7th run and I was very pleased to have completed it."

His tremendous effort raised £1,413.47 for The Christie Hospital. You can add to that sum by donating at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Peter-Brodie4.

Water Rats

Had another trip to the Grand Order of Water Rats. I was 'recruited' as a helper which I enjoyed and was able to fill in a couple of little bits and pieces for the new book that I am writing with Dave Wyatt.

Remembering Bill

Here is a nice article about L&H, Bill Cubin, the museum, and the Boys' later tours. Maybe you've seen this article before, but in case you hadn't, I wanted you to see it.

There are a couple of nice photos of Bill Cubin, which I hadn't seen before.

Troggs reference

Above is a picture from the sleeve notes of the album Trogglodynamite (1966).

I love finding music references to the Boys.

Italy celebrates

On Thursday, June 8th, Tenda 306 Blotto recalled the 60th anniversary of the death of the Great, Unforgettable and Awesome Oliver Hardy, with two hours of entertainment for him and Stan!

The event took place in the beautiful medieval square in the center of the town of Fidenza where our great brother Tony / Fradiavolo organized the beautiful evening.

Fidenza is about half way between Cremona and Modena, a beautiful town where you eat well and drink even better!

He led the event to an immense Tiziano, which enchanted the numerous publishers present (especially the female one)!

Although this event took place in the middle of the week there were numerous Sons of the Desert present.
