Fun in
Belfast
Keith Davidson reports
that the meeting of his Another Fine Mess Tent on
17th September was a success. He says, "Since
Billy Gilbert was born on 12th September 1894 and
died on 23rd September 1971, we had a tribute night
in his memory, screening One Good Turn, The
Chimp, Their First Mistake and Pack Up Your
Troubles. It turned out to be a very
popular selection with many claiming it was one of
the best nights ever! We had about forty people in
attendance and the atmosphere was
great."

Hyde Theatre Royal
Dean Carroll saw the above
photo in an article in The Tameside Reporter
(15.09.11.), about supporters of the Hyde Theatre
Royal. Stuart Green told the story in our earlier
Bulletin, with a couple more photos.

Metro
There was an article in
Metro (15.09.11.) about a bloke who does
pencil drawings, done up to look like old photos.
In what is a fuzzy mock-up of what appears to be an
old Victorian primary school photo, there, in the
second-to-back row, is, or looks like, Stan Laurel,
bowler hat, bow tie, wide-mouthed smile and all.
The bizarre thing is, no mention is made of what
clearly looks (to me) like Stan, which begs the
question: why is he there? Behind him is what might
be Oliver Hardy (bowler, wee moustache) although
he's less obvious. "Stan" jumped out at me straight
away.
