Jitterbugs Tent of Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands

Last night we had the Ambassador's night with a small group of people. By remembering Bill Cubin we raised ¤177 for charity. Thanks to Rob, Nida and Ans as well , they could not come to this special night but donated ¤100 for charity. Thank you , thank you, thank you. Also a big thanks to Henk van Zitteren, Piet Timmermans, Petra Kiers, Rene de Jong, Graham van den Hoogen, Anita an Terheijden and our lovely guest Marion Grave for making this first time Ambassador's night a night to remember! Next edition is sceduled for November 28th 2019.

The money raised yesterday will be donated to the St Mary's Hospice in Ulverston. Bill had spent the last months of his life there and had a 6 star treatment. I (Hans) can speak from my own exjperience that the staff did everything to make his stay and for others as pleasant as possible. Marion had the honour of picking a charity and we all agreed with her choice! What a great way to end this Ambassador's Night. Again , thank you all for helping and laughing. It was a really a great night!

Barry Boyd RIP

I believe Barry may have been at County Hospital's very first meeting at BBC Radio Leeds in 1978, if not he showed up pretty soon after. I remember he brought a sweetie jar full of silver coins he had saved to one of our meetings which went towards a film purchase. A great guy, well remembered.

Dave Beecroft

Barry put on a few nights to help fundraising for Bradford (Park Avenue) in the 90s. Only met him a few times but remember him as being a lovely chap. RIP.

David Rawling

He was also involved directly and indirectly in the continuance of the Bradford Trolleybus Association and Shipley Glen Tramway.

Blockheads Tent on video

I stumbled across this while checking the dates that the Boys appeared in Edinburgh - a ten-minute documentary about the tent made in 2004. I have no memory of this whatsoever, and I'm in it! Some familiar faces, looking a lot younger, and alas a few who are no longer with us.

Filmed and produced by Peter Newcombe in March 2004.

Another DVD box set

I saw the above in a Morrisons supermarket the other day at £25 which looks good value when you consider the 20+ shorts, including On the Loose and the Spanish Below Zero that are included.

I have no idea of the quality etc, but the set could make an excellent Christmas present for a Son that might not have all of the titles?

The features are: Our Relations, Swiss Miss, Way Out West, Sons of the Desert, Saps at Sea, Bohemian Girl, A Chump at Oxford, Pack Up Your Troubles, Block-Heads and Pardon Us.
